READING MONOPOLY
I ran this across all year groups, with a bespoke board for each. The children completed in teams within each class. The Chance card can be whatever you want it to be for younger classes. For the rest, once they'd chosen the 4 books they wouldn't choose to read, the child collects the Chance card which instructs them to read the first page of each of the books and choose one to read.
Please make a copy in order to be able to edit it.

Guide to reading Monopoly
Each house/group has a sticker colour.
The aim is for each house/group to complete the Monopoly board (by having one of their stickers on each active square - 32 in total). There’s no time limit.
1st place earns 30 house points
2nd place earns 20 house points
3rd place earns 15 house points
4th place earns 10 house points
In order to claim a space, they need to:
Complete a book/task as given on the coloured property squares OR
Complete the ? card instructions, which the class staff will hold OR
Complete the Community Chest task
The reading scrapbooks are free form - the children can do whatever they want as long as it relates to a book they have read (pictures and words/review/cartoon).
OUR READING SCRAPBOOKS
I introduced these to all year groups from Y1 to Y6 and they were completed by the children whenever there was a book they wanted to write about. They could take the scrapbook home to complete or use any free time at school. The Year 6 staff also completed one as we didn't want to miss out on the bookish awesomeness!!
DOOR SIGNS
I introduced these signs outside every classroom to show what the class book is, what a chosen child is reading (lolly sticks) and what the teacher/TA is reading. The class book is changed whenever a new book is started, the pupil book is changed every Monday morning and the teacher book change varied across the school. Ours changed every week, but others changed less frequently.
PROGRESSION IN BAR MODELING KS1 AND KS2
I'm a huge fan of bar modeling and can't sing its praises highly enough. I've written a document detailing how its use progresses through the year groups, and this includes examples of different types of bar model and their application. Here's the link:
