Information about school visits
In-person visits are £200 for half a day plus travel costs for travel times over 60 minutes. Full days cost £300 and offer a little more flexibility than a half day.
A full day visit will usually include the following:
📚 A KS1 and KS2 assembly featuring a bit about me, my journey to becoming an author and my writing process, plus Q & A
📚 Up to six KS2 writing workshops (a minimum of 40 minutes is needed per session - 50 minutes is ideal, but the structure of the school day usually dictates session length!)
📚 I always love talking about books, so if there's time I'll happily chat about books they've read and books I've read and promote reading for pleasure.
The structure of the day is flexible, so if you have something in particular in mind, get in touch and I'll see what I can do!
WHAT PEOPLE HAVE TO SAY ABOUT MY VISITS!
Sarah's visit to Boughton Heath Academy was a real treat for our pupils! Through her creative workshop, she kindled a love for reading and the written work which engaged and inspired the children. Sarah's warm and friendly approach made everyone feel right at home, and they left buzzing with excitement and a renewed passion for books. We can't thank Sarah enough for lighting up our day and inspiring our pupils - thank you!

We had an amazing author visit today from Sarah Wynne, author of Murder in Velvet, to do a writing workshop. She was phenomenal! Engaging but put the children to work and really developed their ideas. My class usually avoid writing at all costs but begged to write up their story plans as an independent write as they were so into it. If you’re looking for an author, I fully recommend!
What an incredible day in Year 4. From magical toasters and hidden portals to new worlds and even evil villains from the past...we explored it all with our local author Sarah Wynne.
Sarah inspired and guided our children yesterday with a special writing workshop and she even signed copies of our books from her collection. We can't wait to hear all of the stories the Year 4 children have created.
Thank you Sarah for a creatively inspiring day.

When you were at (our school) you worked in a Year 5 class with a boy who is the most reluctant writer I have ever met.
Following your visit, he wrote a story. Now that might not seem like a big deal but for this young man it is huge! He reluctantly writes one or two sentences a day .... He never does homework and only ever engages with small tasks on his own terms.
He wrote his own ‘book’ loaning a laptop from school to take home and finish it off ... He has never in all the years I’ve known him written a whole story from beginning to end.
...I wanted you to know just how inspiring the children have found your workshops and what a difference you have made to some children’s attitude to writing.
Thank you very much!

If anyone ... would like an author visit, we have just had Sarah Wynne (author of Murder in Velvet and Dogs of Doom) visit our KS2 children and they absolutely loved her! She held assemblies and writing workshops with classes and even organised all of the book sales so that we didn't have to. I've never seen our pupils so inspired to read and write: one child read the whole of Murder In Velvet and created a book review that night and another wrote up his own story onto a canvas with a painted illustration of the front cover. We now have a Sarah Wynne Book Club initiated by y6s too! We'd definitely recommend a visit or even just a look at her books for the school library.

Thank you, Sarah for a truly motivating and inspiring Virtual Author Visit.
We loved the introduction to your book, 'Murder in Velvet', the code breaking and the fantastic tips you gave us about planning and writing our own stories. We have loved using everyday objects to create our own story of secrets and can't wait to read the rest of your book! You are amazing! From all the Year 6 pupils at Grange C of E Primary School.
Once again, thank you. The children are still writing... I think we have chapter books now 🙂

Thanks to Sarah for an inspiring virtual author visit. Her session had the children buzzing with ideas - so much so that nobody wanted to go out to play afterwards, they were all so full of enthusiasm to write their stories! Each lunchtime since, many of my class have turned up to the library to continue writing their books!
Hopefully, we'll have some budding authors of the future!
